Resumo: O propósito deste artigo é investigar a conexão entre a capacidade humana de começar
e a insurgência do acontecer no pensamento de Hannah Arendt. Na primeira parte do texto, à guisa
de introdução, considero a busca pelo sentido dos eventos como a marca do percurso intelectual
de Arendt a partir da leitura do poema “Amor à primeira vista”, de Wisława Szymborska. Na
segunda parte, ao retomar o significado do pensar para Arendt, exploro a relação entre começo e
evento assinalando o que denomino como uma experiência de pensar eventos. Na terceira parte,
discorro sobre as relações temporais existentes entre compreensão e evento. Desse modo, nota-se
um jogo perspectivo quanto aos eventos que permite situar o seu acontecer na própria brecha entre
o passado e o futuro.

Abstract: This paper investigates the connection between the human capacity of beginning and
the insurgence of happening in Hannah Arendt’s thinking. In the paper’s first part, as an
introduction, I consider the search for the meaning of events as Arendt’s intellectual guide-mark
by reading the poem “Love at first sight” by Wisława Szymborska. In the second part, by retaking
what thinking means to Arendt, I explore the relationship between beginning and event by pointing
out what I call an experience of thinking events. In the third part, I discuss the temporal
relationships existent between understanding and event. Thus, one should note a perspective game
concerning events that allow locating their happening in the gap between past and future.
