Resumo: Uma das razões pelas quais Hannah Arendt se envolveu em uma polêmica com a publicação do seu relato do julgamento de Eichmann foi o fato de ter mencionado a participação dos conselhos judeus durante a Segunda Guerra Mundial acusando seus membros de terem cooperado com os nazistas. Neste artigo me dedico a refletir sobre essa acusação buscando apresentar possíveis razões pelas quais a autora abordou esse assunto. Meu argumento é de que sua crítica à cooperação das lideranças judaicas ao Nazismo é endereçada à recusa que ela faz da Realpolitik adotada pela política judaica, orientada pela sobrevivência a qualquer preço e incapaz de enfrentar o antissemitismo como um movimento político. Busco indicar como essa crítica também se relaciona à recusa que Arendt fazia das historiografias que consideravam uma natureza eterna e ubíqua do antissemitismo e que, assim, tendiam a retirar dos judeus a capacidade de ação, de responderem pelos acontecimentos políticos e mudarem o curso dessa história que os lançou para o centro deste movimento.

Abstract: One of the reasons why Hannah Arendt involved herself in a controversy with the publication of Eichmann trial report was the fact that she mentioned the participation of the Jewish councils during World War II and accused their members of cooperating with the Nazis. This paper reflects on this accusation seeking to trace the reasons why she made this accusation. My argument is that her criticism about the Jewish leadership’s cooperation with Nazism is addressed to her refusal of the Realpolitik adopted by Jewish politics, guided by survival at any cost and unable of confronting antisemitism as a political movement. I seek to indicate how this criticism is also related to Arendt’s refusal of historiographies that considered the eternal and ubiquitous nature of antisemitism and, thus, leant towards depriving Jews of their capacity of action, of reacting to political events and changing the course of this History that launched them into the center of this movement.
