Resumo: A reflexão trazida pela filósofa Hannah Arendt, sobre a era moderna, concebida como
a idade da razão e da técnica, oferece uma melhor compreensão sobre as reconfigurações
políticas e sociais na sociedade atual. As atividades da vita activa bem como as da vida do
espírito tem sofrido correntes inversões apresentando um grave rompimento com a tradição. O
que este artigo propõe é a compreensão de que não só as atividades da vita activa sofreram
alterações, devido a entrada do homo faber na esfera pública, mas como outras atividades da
vida do espírito, as que não ocorrem no mundo fenomênico, também foram afetadas. O
isolamento é um reflexo de tais transformações, que se apresenta não apenas como traço
pandêmico, mas como tática de governos totalitários.

Abstract: The reflection brought by the philosopher Hannah Arendt about the modern era,
conceived as the age of reason and technique, offers a better understanding of the political and
social reconfigurations in today’s society. The activities of vita activa as well as those of The
life of the mind have suffered current inversions, presenting a serious rupture with tradition.
What this article proposes is the understanding that not only the activities of vita activa have
suffered alterations, due to the entrance of homo faber into the public sphere, but that other
activities of the life of the mind, those that do not occur in the phenomenal world, have also
been affected. Isolation is a reflection of such transformations, which presents itself not only as
a pandemic trait, but as a tactic of totalitarian governments.
