Resumo: O artigo investiga qual lugar ocupa o corpo em textos do filósofo francês Michel Foucault sobre biopolítica. Se a maior parte das pesquisas sobre biopolítica parece buscar compreender como se dá o investimento da política sobre a vida, o artigo oferece uma leitura sobre o corpo biopolítico a partir de O Nascimento da Medicina Social; História da Sexualidade I; Em Defesa da Sociedade; Segurança, Território e População e O Nascimento da Biopolítica. Não há um sentido único e originário de corpo na biopolítica de Michel Foucault. Da mesma forma, a compreensão de corpo não deve se resumir ao corpo biológico. A sujeição dos corpos nos regimes disciplinares de soberania se associa ao corpo da população nos regimes biopolíticos na formulação de um corpo múltiplo e complexo a partir de dispositivos, técnicas e estratégias de diferentes regimes de poder. O artigo tenta assim mostrar a importância do corpo nas leituras e pesquisas sobre biopolítica.

Abstract: The article investigates what place the body occupies in texts by the French philosopher Michel Foucault on biopolitics. If most of the research on biopolitics seeks to understand how the investment of politics on life takes place, the article offers a reading on the biopolitical body from La Naissance de la Medicine Sociale; Il faut defendre la societé; Securité, Territoire et Population; et La naissance de la Biopolitique. There is no unique and original meaning of the body in Michel Foucault’s biopolitics. Likewise, the understanding of the body should not be limited to the biological body. The subjection od body in disciplinary sovereignty regimes is associated to the body of the population in biopolitical regimes in the formulation of a multiple and complex body based on devices, tecniques and strategies of differente power regimes. The article shows the importance of the body in readings and research on biopolitics.
