Resumo: O Caso Dreyfus é considerado por Arendt o marco inicial da política do século XX. Não à toa, a pensadora confere centralidade ao fato histórico quando se debruça sobre o elemento antissemita, expressão do elemento racial, que caracterizaria os acontecimentos políticos do mundo moderno. Neste sentido, aos olhos de Arendt, o julgamento de Alfred Dreyfus teria sido uma ferramenta política, usada para mobilizar a sociedade francesa  no cenário de fragmentação e declínio provocados pela crise do estado-nação. Como veremos, o colapso da ordem mundana, desacompanhado de um exercício de compreensão destas mudanças e de reconciliação com elas, gera o ambiente necessário para a profusão de discursos de ódio.

Abstract: The Dreyfus Affaire is considered by Arendt the beginning of twentieth-century politics. No wonder,  the thinker gives centrality to the that historical fact when is looking into the anti-semitic element, an expression of the racial element, that caractherizes the political events of the modern world. In this regard, in an Arendtian perspective, Alfred Dreyfus’ trial was a political tool used for mobilizing the french society in the scenario of fragmentation and decline caused by the crisis  of nation-state. As we shall see, the collapse of the worldly order, unaccompanied by the understanding of these changes and by the reconciliation with them,  engenders the required environment to the hatred speeches.
