RESUMO: Na década de 60 a teoria crítica do filósofo Herbert Marcuse tornou-se a referência teórica do fenômeno político heterogêneo chamado new left, estranhamente passado esse sucesso instantâneo nas décadas de 60 e 70, o pensamento de Marcuse caiu no esquecimento. O presente artigo visa realizar uma leitura da introdução da obra Ideologia da sociedade Industrial de Herbert Marcuse, obra essa que foi novamente traduzida para o português.

ABSTRACT: In the Decade of 60 critical theory of philosopher Herbert Marcuse became the theoretical reference of the heterogeneous political phenomenon called new left, strangely after that instant success in the decades of 60 and 70, the thought of Marcuse fell into oblivion. This article aims to perform a reading of the introduction of the Industrial society Ideology work of Herbert Marcuse, work which was translated into Portuguese.
