 Resumo: O artigo parte de uma análise da relação entre filosofia e circunstância na obra de Leopoldo Zea, recuperando a influência de Ortega y Gasset sobre o autor, explicitando que ambas as categorias são orgânicas e simbióticas. Toda filosofia é produzida em alguma circunstância, mas, mais do que isso, toda filosofia é também parte constitutiva da própria circunstância em que é produzida. Passa-se, então, à construção de elementos de uma antropologia filosófica zeana, demonstrando que o ser humano, que necessariamente vive em alguma circunstância, é invariavelmente um ser humano mutável, tal como o é a própria circunstância da qual é parte. É na circunstância que ser humano e filosofia se realizam. No caso latino-americano, a circunstância histórica é de dominação e opressão, sendo essa a característica passada e presente mais comum ao nosso continente. Daí a necessidade de se buscar a construção de uma filosofia que tenha na tomada de consciência humana sobre a violência sofrida, a condição de libertação da circunstância e das pessoas no futuro.

 Abstract: This article begins with an analysis of the relationship between philosophy and circumstance in the work of Leopoldo Zea, recovering the influence of Ortega y Gasset on the author and clarifying that both categories are organic and symbiotic. All philosophy is produced within some circumstance, but more than that, all philosophy is also a constitutive part of the very circumstance in which it is produced. Next, it proceeds to the construction of elements of a Zean philosophical anthropology, demonstrating that the human being, who necessarily lives within some circumstance, is invariably a mutable being, just as the very circumstance of which he is a part is mutable. It is in the circumstance that both, the human being and philosophy, are realized. In the Latin American case, the historical circumstance is one of domination and oppression, which is the most common past and present characteristic of our continent. There is a need to seek the construction of a philosophy that considers human conscientization of the violence suffered as the condition for the liberation of both: circumstance and people in the future.
