RESUMO:Fundamentado na obra Filosofia como Política Cultural de Richard Rorty (1931-2007), o presente trabalho tem como objetivo analisar o modo como o filósofo entende a relação entre pragmática e religião e, com isso, indicar uma leitura possível do fenômeno religioso a partir de uma visão utilitarista e pragmática. Tal visão se revela como uma possibilidade alternativa às teorias dogmáticas e se fundamenta na necessidade de uma cultura de diálogo para a comunidade religiosa atual. De modo específico, almeja-se na pesquisa ponderar as consequências políticas do projeto filosófico pragmático proposto por Rorty e sobrepesar suas principais características, a fim de lançar luz sobre como a religião vem sendo trabalhada nos discursos filosóficos atuais.

ABSTRACT: Based on the work of Richard Rorty Philosophy as Cultural Politics, this paper aims to examine how the philosopher understands the relationship between pragmatic and religion and, therefore, indicate a possible reading of the religious phenomenon from a utilitarian and pragmatic view. Such a view is revealed as an alternative possibility to dogmatic theories and is based on the need for a culture of dialogue for the current religious community. Specifically, it aims in the survey consider the political consequences of the pragmatic philosophical project proposed by Rorty and sobrepesar its main features in order to shed light on how religion has been crafted in the current philosophical discourses.
