Resumo: O impacto das grandes ideias das Luzes ou do movimento histórico-filosófico
conhecido como Iluminismo ficou amplamente conhecido, sobretudo, pela Revolução
Francesa de 1789. Este movimento, diante das mazelas do Antigo Regime, pautava-se em
princípios políticos republicanos ao almejar um novo cenário político para a França do século
XVIII. No presente artigo, disserta-se, primordialmente, sobre a contribuição de Jean-Jacques
Rousseau (1712-1778) no que diz respeito ao arquétipo de cidadania e à formação para a
cidadania, considerando a vinculação deste arquétipo e desta formação ao Republicanismo.
Aqui, poderemos acompanhar brevemente que as ideias republicanas advêm de um vasto
arcabouço teórico que antecedeu a formação do léxico republicano, remontando, inclusive, à
Antiguidade.

Abstract: The impact of the Age of Reason or of the historic and philosofical movement
knowed as Enlightenment was largely knowed, mainly, because of the French Revolution
began in 1789. This movement, against the corruptions of the Ancien Régime, relied on
republican political principles, aiming a new political scenario for the XVIII french century.
In this article is, essentialy, about the Jean-Jacques Rousseau (1712-1778) contribution with
regards to the citizenship archetype, considering the linking of this archetype and of this
formation to the Republicanism. This study allows understand briefly that the republican
ideas comes from of an extensive theoretical framework that preceds the republican léxicon
formation, reassembling, including, the Antiquity.
