 RESUMO: O objetivo desse artigo consiste em analisar os aspectos da “moral secular” de Hobbes, na perspectiva de Rawls. Nesse sentido, as discussões são direcionadas para descartar as concepções metafísicas no âmbito da fundamentação da sua teoria política. Para tanto, analisam-se os termos da conjectura secular de Hobbes, tal como Rawls enfatiza, evidenciando o papel da razão compreendida como simples cálculo no contexto de fundamentação do contratualismo. Nesse sentido, será necessário discutir a aproximação de Hobbes aos ideais e princípios do cientificismo da sua época. Essa aproximação demonstra efetivamente o que Rawls pretende enfatizar: a desvinculação dos preceitos de Hobbes da religião. Dessa forma, fica evidente que a “tese secular” seja uma via de interpretação de Hobbes capaz de contemplar a relação fecunda entre ciência e política.

ABSTRACT:The aim of this article is to examine the aspects of “secular morality” of Hobbes, from the perspective of Rawls. In this sense, the discussions are directed to dispose of the conceptions metaphysics under the reasoning of his political theory. To do so, it analyzes the terms of secular conjecture of Hobbes, as Rawls emphasizes, highlighting the role of reason understood as simple calculation in the context of reasoning of contractualism. In this sense, it will be necessary to discuss the approach of Hobbes to the ideals and principles of the scientism of his time. This approach effectively demonstrates what Rawls wants to emphasize: the untying of the precepts of Hobbes’ of religion. In this way, it is evident that the “secular thesis” is a way of interpretation of Hobbes able to contemplate the relationship fruitful between science and politics.
