Resumo: O presente trabalho analisa a epistemologia da informação, investigando as profundas implicações filosóficas do conceito de informação para a teoria do conhecimento contemporânea. Partindo de uma reconstrução histórica necessária, que transita da Teoria Matemática da Comunicação de Shannon e Weaver às abordagens ontológicas mais recentes, o estudo examina a relação intrínseca entre o sentido estrito de epistemologia e os fundamentos da Ciência da Informação. A análise foca, primordialmente, na tensão dialética entre as vertentes naturalista e antropológica do conceito. Demonstra-se que, embora a abordagem naturalista — caracterizada por uma lógica estritamente causal, quantitativa e objetiva — possua eficácia funcional em limites sintáticos e técnicos, ela se mostra insuficiente para abarcar as complexas dimensões morais, éticas e pragmáticas do fenômeno informativo. Em contrapartida, conclui-se que a perspectiva antropológica, de caráter relacional e hermenêutico, oferece uma fundamentação filosófica mais abrangente e robusta, ao integrar o papel central do sujeito epistêmico e a produção de significado no processo contínuo de constituição do conhecimento humano.

Abstract: The present work analyzes the epistemology of information, investigating the profound philosophical implications of the concept of information for contemporary theory of knowledge. Starting from a necessary historical reconstruction, which moves from Shannon and Weaver’s Mathematical Theory of Communication to more recent ontological approaches, the study examines the intrinsic relationship between the strict sense of epistemology and the foundations of Information Science. The analysis focuses primarily on the dialectical tension between the naturalist and anthropological strands of the concept. It is demonstrated that, although the naturalist approach — characterized by a strictly causal, quantitative, and objective logic — possesses functional efficacy within syntactic and technical limits, it proves insufficient to encompass the complex moral, ethical, and pragmatic dimensions of the informative phenomenon. Conversely, it is concluded that the anthropological perspective, of a relational and hermeneutic nature, offers a more comprehensive and robust philosophical foundation by integrating the central role of the epistemic subject and the production of meaning in the continuous process of constituting human knowledge.
