Resumo: Entre as ciências sociais, Weil elenca a economia política, não apenas uma, mas a primeira delas e que fornece a matriz para as demais. Weil alicerça essa constatação com a distinção entre uma sociologia histórica e teórica. Para compreendermos essa distinção weiliana é importante apresentar uma síntese do surgimento e evolução da economia política ao longo da história das ideias. Esse panorama histórico do conceito serve para compreendermos a distinção entre sociologia teórica e histórica, tomando em seguida alguns dos conceitos relacionados à compreensão da primeira para questionar sua suposta neutralidade axiomática.

Abstract: Among the social sciences, Weil lists political economy, not just one, but the first of them and which provides the matrix for the others. Weil supports this observation with the distinction between a historical and theoretical sociology. To understand this Weilian distinction, it is important to present a synthesis of the emergence and evolution of political economy throughout the history of ideas. This historical overview of the concept serves to understand the distinction between theoretical and historical sociology, then taking some of the concepts related to the understanding of the former to question its supposed axiomatic neutrality.
