Resumo: Trata-se de analisar as obras, Discurso sobre as ciências e as artes e o Discurso sobre a origem e os fundamentos da desigualdade entre os homens, do filósofo Jean-Jacques Rousseau na perspectiva de compreender e fundamentar as consequências do desenvolvimento tecnológico e seus efeitos na contemporaneidade. Aborda-se a crítica de Rousseau ao iluminismo e a ideia de progresso científico moderno. Evidencia-se uma compreensão reflexiva da crise política através do conceito de desigualdade vivenciado pelo homem diante da ideia de progresso.

Abstract: Analyzing the works, discourse on the sciences and the arts and the discourse on the origin and basis of inequality among men, of the philosopher Jean-Jacques Rousseau in the perspective to understand and support the consequences of technological development and its effects in contemporary times. Deals with the criticism of Rousseau to the enlightenment and the idea of modern scientific progress. Shows a reflective understanding of the political crisis through the concept of inequality experienced by man on the idea of progress.
