 RESUMO: O objetivo deste artigo é apresentar a noção do autor Hans Jonas sobre o ideal utópico que acompanha o desenvolvimento do progresso tecnológico. Esse tema representa um assunto de grande importância e obrigatoriedade em todas as dimensões da vida humana, incluindo o âmbito filosófico e ético, porque se trata de um poder e de um modo de ser do homem no mundo. Para Jonas, a sociedade moderna encontra-se dominada pelo ideal utópico de um progresso tecnológico, um ideal de um futuro mundo melhor, de um homem perfeito de uma sociedade feliz. Esse caráter utópico que pertence à tecnologia é alvo de crítica de Jonas, pois é nele que se esconde o lado negativo dos avanços tecnológicos e não permite que a humanidade reflita sobre ameaças futuras. Portanto, torna-se necessário um estudo deste contexto no âmbito da ética, reconhecida por Jonas como um poder sobre o poder, ou seja, segundo sua ideia, a tecnologia precisa ser humanizada e controlada pelo saber ético.

ABSTRACT: The objective of this article is to present author Hans Jonas’ notion on the Utopian ideal that accompanies the development of the technological progress. That theme represents a subject of great importance and compulsory nature in all of the dimensions of the human life, including the philosophical and ethical extent, because it is a power and in a way of being of the man in the world. For Jonas, the modern society is dominated by the Utopian ideal of a technological progress, an ideal of a future better world, of a perfect man of a happy society. That Utopian character that belongs to the technology is white of critic of Jonas, because it is in him that hides the negative side of the technological progress and it doesn’t allow the humanity to think about future threats. Therefore, becomes necessary a study of this context in the extent of the ethics, recognized by Jonas as a power about the power, in other words, his/her second idea, the technology needs to be humanized and controlled by the ethical knowledge.
