A segunda é a distorção dessa vocação.

Abstract: This article aims to reflect on one of the problems that disturbed so the philosopher and Brazilian educator Paulo Freire who was one of the reasons that led him to write one of his most famous works: Pedagogy of the Oppressed. This problem is the dehumanization of individuals caused by social contradictions and hence the need to transform this dehumanizing reality that men can go in search of their ontological vocation: to be more. Moreover, the contrast between Humanization established by Freire vs. Dehumanization leads us to the need to also reflect on the role of education in this process and that allows the liberation of human beings from their condition of being dehumanized. When speaking of his humanization and “to be more” Freire recognizes its opposite: the dehumanization, the “to be less”. But only the first is the ontological vocation of human beings. The second is the distortion of this vocation. And in that sense we can say that Freirean pedagogy can be understood as a Humanist Pedagogy for the world today.
