Our reading is timely and search process the hypothesis that Bentham, deliberately or not, was mixing facts and values, using the utilitarian hedonism to enter practical values of capitalism in people imprisoned or under state supervision. The possibility of dividing to analyze and qualify evaluatively efficiency (doing something with a view to productivity) and effectiveness (doing the right thing) the work is critical to Foucault’s critique. At this level, the French author would have been able to scrutinize, as few, the naturalistic fallacy which Bentham is alleged to have incurred constantly.
